THE QUALIFIERS
We are again running the Central Horse News and the Chiltern and Thames Rider magasine 'Qualifier Classes'.
Please note there are additional rules for classes containing a qualifier.
If you are planning to qualify please make sure you have your 2011 membership, fulfill all the appropriate rules
and enter your membership number on the entry form.
An abridged version of these rules is posted below.
The competition is open to Seniors and Juniors. Each rider will be asked to perform a set of movements and jump two fences at a maximum height of 2'. Scores are to be awarded for each movement out of a possible 10 marks. The Judges is looking for the RIDERS who demonstrate the most pleasing overall impression of horsemanship throughout the class. The first two placed competitors will qualify for the Championship. In the event of these two riders having already qualified, the qualification will pass down the line. Overall impression – i.e. How pleasing to the eye; taking into account – Rider's position and balance, application of the aids, tact and consideration shown for mount resulting in fluent and harmonious way of going in the horse. Important Note: The horse is not being judged in this competition. However, it should be pointed out that a well turned out horse being ridden correctly will often give the impression of quality. As often seen, a well ridden “ugly duckling” can appear to be the most elegant swan. 1. Walk to Judge and commence figure of 8 in trot Bonus points Rider's position and seat, correctness and effect of aids For an up to the minute list of Show's/Clubs holding these Qualifier Classes and information on the Championships, check the CHN website – www. centralhorsenews.co.uk.
